Which wouldn't be bad on a school day--but it's a Sunday!
Why did I wake up?
Because I was panicking!
And why the panic?
I was plagued by this uneasy thought:
What do people blog about in the summer?
I wish I could say I made this up, but, nope! This is precisely the kind of thing that I agonize over! Now that I have made a commitment to being a blogger,
(and I am still thankful to all of you who urged me to stick with it),
I made a promise to blog twice (or thrice!) a week.
But I wasn't a blogger last summer.
I started blogging in the fall when school was already starting.
And my school starts in September.
So I'm thinking near the end of August I will have some "Getting ready..." posts.
But what about the beginning of August?
And the last three weeks of June?
And, Lord help me, what about July?!
I don't want to go to detention for unfinished homework (again).
Maybe I will feel less anxious if I have some ideas.
And there's a treat...
I'm hoping that your comment lands on my favorite number
(which I won't divulge... but it's somewhere in the archives so I can't lie about it!).
If it does, there's a $20 Starbucks gift card waiting for you.
(If your name doesn't link back to your blog, please leave your e-mail address).
The Giveaway will end on Friday, May 4th, so don't forget to leave a comment.
And if you're not already a follower, I hope that you'll consider joining in...
Maybe an iced mocha, a passion tea lemonade, or a caramel frappuccino will be by your side
when YOU are blogging this summer.
So here's the prompt: What will YOU be blogging about this summer?
Maybe blogging about homeschooling?

I will be blogging about summer activities I do, crafts, transitioning to a new grade and school, and reorganizing my classroom library!
ReplyDeletenoren.lindsay@gmail.com
I plan on blogging about organization ideas and cute craft projects for the classroom. Maybe even a book linky party. Trying to find a great teaching resource book study.

I have been on surgery leave since February and I can relate with the "what do I do now" thought. It can be so hard to blog when you are out of the classroom. This summer I want to highlight great children's books, tech ideas, and cool classroom products. I also want to work on generating themed math and literacy center activities for the first trimester. If anything . . . this last one is for me! I gotta take advantage of this extra prep time ;).

I plan on blogging about the goodies I will be working on this summer for the upcoming year! Also, I plan on tackling my classroom library by organizing all of my books by types. So I plan to blog about the process.

I plan to blog on getting ready for the upcoming year and finding some sweet things to do in my classroom. I will also be reading about Common Core and going to workshops! Busy, busy, busy! I also like Meagan's idea of organizing her books!

Oh how I missed you!!! I need to take a mini bloggy break. I was overwhelmed and burnt out. BUT... I'm back :) Summer blogging is easy!!! I actually started in the summer so trust me it's simple. Summer time is reserved for all of your back to school ideas, new ideas you discover on Pinterest or other blogs that you just found out about or never had time to try out, to reading new professional books and talking about them, to creating new lessons and products, to crafts, anything really. You'll be amazed... the most creative ideas come out in the summer. Have no fear!!!! It's easier than the school year.
ReplyDeleteYou'll be as amazing as always!

I will blog about anything, as you know. So I may blog about my tan or my lunch date or the lamination I'm cutting. It's a toss up.

ReplyDeleteand THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE WONDRERFULLLLLLLL Get Well Gift!!!
OK, the million dollar question . . . here's my story: I started a blog last June and quickly became addicted cause blogging is like therapy to me. So I vowed to blog daily for a year, then take a break . . . so I'm not sure I'll be blogging much this summer. I might get a special visit from a Blogging Buddy that might be blog-worth . . . . when I do blog, it'll probably continue to be stuff that I hear or read about that inspires me . . . and hopefully with a caramel macchiato in my hand!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for a fun giveaway,
Barbara
Oh my goodness, this had me laughing because I've been thinking the same thing.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to focus on Common Core since I haven't done that yet.
You are the best!

I'll be blogging about math centers and organization. This will be my first "Back to School" season and I'm sure I'll have a lot to talk about!
ReplyDeleterilyzmom@yahoo.com
I just started my blog in April, so I have been thinking the same thing. I always change my classroom theme, so that could be a topic. Our school campus houses our elementary school and an early college high school, starting next school year our kids will be on a split calendar...which will be interesting for my small county. I would love if you would stop by and visit me...

Hey friend! I honestly just blog about whatever I'm working on. Summer's my favorite time because I have SO much more energy and I feel a little more creative at that point, so it's a lot of fun!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a teacher blogger, but a good friend, who will be talking with you during the summer about??? of course, school! Well, what do we talk about: new books, how we cleaned our rooms, what we are going to do to organize better, how quickly the summer is going, etc. etc. I know you will think of something, you always do. You are truly amazing!
ReplyDeleteI'm planning on blogging about the DIY changes I am going to do to my classroom for next year, as well as how I prep for school! I also hope to start blogging about what I've gained in my Educational Technology classes!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm planning to blog on crafts and things I make for the classroom. Probably some professional reading, too. My girls are really excited about the craft posts - it means they get in on the fun, too!
ReplyDeleteI'm also hoping to make math center tubs for all my math units - I'm sure I'll do some posts on them.
Hope you had a FABULOUS weekend!

I think you should blog about anything and everything you want. Just because your blog is called Finding JOY in 6th Grade doesn't mean you can't blog about all the things that bring you joy during SUMMER VACATION! (Summer vacation, and relaxing and enjoying life, is an important part of teaching sixth grade if you as me!) Maybe your vacation ideas will give some of us some super awesome ideas! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat do you WANT to blog about? ;D Me? I'm sure I'll ramble about foldables, conferences, crafts, and my toddler! Can't wait to see what you blog!
ReplyDeleteI think it's the availability to think about what you want to do next year and then talk about it! :) Summer is my favorite time of the year because I get all amped up thinking about the best things that I can cook up for my new students.
ReplyDeleteWhat about your parent letter? That could always be a good post - I agonize over that sucker for at least a week. (I think you could have a parent letter home linky party!)
Plus, you can always start making things for the next year and putting them up on TpT or TN? (My plan!)
Ha! Your fav number is 17, right? Right! Yeah, I admit I cheated. I'm despicable, I know.
ReplyDeleteThe number I love is 18 aka the best number. Ever! The reasons why it is my absolute favorite, I won't divulge here, 'cause it's gonna be what I'll be blogging about in summer. I'll also have one post dedicated to God's gift to humanity- beaches.
Because well, it's summer, and during summer, life is so not a beach!
I am thinking with everyone having more time in the summer, there will be more ideas shared on Pinterest and more blogging going on. I plan to keep blogging about character traits and trying to get readers to link up to my newest linky party! I also plan on drinking lots of coffee!!! ha ha!
ReplyDeleteI'll blog about things I'm doing, crafts, Pinterest, any school ideas, books I'm reading.
ReplyDeleteJourney of a Substitute Teacher
I am going to blog about curriculum plans and the PD I attend over the summer...and of course my trip to Disney! Woo Hoo
ReplyDeleteCrafts & home decor!

Ah....great question! Perhaps some book reviews on YA novels or ideas for the upcoming year.
ReplyDeleteMy blog
I am going to be focusing on getting some things ready for next year. First up... Common Core. I want to create some things to go with this. I have a few pinterest things I want to blog about, a new classroom game I love, a cheap laminator, and things to do around my state. Learning can happen outside the class as well. So I want to try to discover some new areas and then create some short educational adventures my students can share with their families.
ReplyDeleteI plan on [finally] starting a blog this summer! I work as a substitute teacher (looking for a full-time job) and my adventures in subbing have provided me with some pretty funny/crazy stories.
ReplyDeleteheymissm@gmail.com
i will blog about homeschooling! summer time, still homeschool because learning is a fun activity in our household! Thanks for a super giveaway!
