One day finished, three to go!
Today my students took Part 1 of the English Language Arts section of the California Standards Test (CST). And I thought CST stood for something a little more creative!
Bless their hearts! Those little sweeties worked for over two hours--right through recess! Our test is untimed, so they sat and sat and sat. They annotated, underlined and analyzed. They did their best.
Part 1 is now history! (Our test has two parts of English Language Arts and two parts of Math.)
For the moment, the scores aren't my focus. I know that I sat and watched them TRY! And as some students finished, they did their best to stay quiet while the others continued to work. It was as if they had saved up some extra goodness and stamina and put it all into play today. It was just an amazing sight.
I have some super smart kiddos and many that really struggle. But today, you wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. My heart was bursting!
This morning, we will do it all over again... Part 2 awaits!

Yay! This makes my heart smile {and makes me hopeful that next week will be a success in my room}.
