With Gratitude

It's been a reflective two days.
I am BEYOND APPRECIATIVE of your sweet, kind, heart-warming thoughts.
Blogging--and blog responding--is a lot like therapy (except you don't have to rehash your earliest childhood memories--and you get to choose where to start the conversation!)

I think I am "stuck" at school (I'm working this hard and they are STILL failing?!), so it spilled over into my sentiments about blogging too.

I have read lots of blogversations in the last year. It really is an "anything goes" friends-will-like-you-anyways kind of interaction.  That's one of the many reasons blogging is so wonderful!

And I do (now!) recall reading posts from a few other people questioning whether blogging was worth the time and trouble at that particular time in their lives. So at least I wasn't alone in the questioning and the self-doubt. (Certainly makes me more sensitive to those who experience this!)

I really do want to get better at this--which won't happen if I quit trying.

So here's what I would like to try to do...
I tried to take pieces of your advice and weave them together to readjust my thinking a bit.
I want to let myself off the hook a bit and let boring posts be boring posts. I want to blog more often but make it less stressful (Sounds a bit more oxymoronic, but I think it might work.)  My goal is to post a few times a week--but mostly real-life stuff... the stuff teachers live each day.

HOWEVER, I have one ultimate request.  If you are one of the people who left a message (until
I have a chance to get back to you personally), please KNOW your responses felt like sweet hugs.  Each note warmed my heart like a venti mocha WITH whip... until I felt like I owned a Starbucks franchise.

Ahhhhhhh. Such JOY.

So along with my can't-even-tell-you-how-much-it-meant THANKS, I leave you this interaction from the line after recess yesterday.

Brian:  Nathan kicked me

FrazzledTeacher: Nathan, did you kick Brian?
Nathan: No, I didn't kick him.
FrazzledTeacher: Really?  He said you kicked him.
Nathan: No, I didn't kick him
FrazzledTeacher: Hmmm. Can you think of a reason why he said that you did?
Nathan: I didn't kick him.
FrazzledTeacher: Okay. What did you choose to do at recess today?
Nathan: Well, we were hanging out like always, and we were kicking each oth...
FrazzledTeacher: Oh. So you did kick him?
Nathan: No, I didn't kick him
FrazzledTeacher: But you just said...
Nathan: He kicked me and then my foot...
FrazzledTeacher: Uh huh... then what?
Nathan: I didn't kick him. My foot was moving and he was in the way.
FrazzledTeacher: Sigh. We'll talk more about this later. In the meantime, please keep your moving foot away from others...
Nathan (mumbling under his breath): I didn't kick him...

  5. Love this! And you could never be boring. Teachers love teacher stories. You saw my last two posts, right? Absolutely nothing to do with teaching. I sat down to write and that's what came out. I actually never know. So just stick with me, friend, and we'll make it work!! :)
As I drink my coffee, I lift it up to you and say, "CHEERS!"

Don't you love those kiddo conversations? I have those too. Like on Tuesday, except for kicking, mine was pushing. And it went pretty much the same way *sigh*

  9. Hahaha That is why my second question is always, "Did your foot touch him?" Because we seem to disagree on the meaning of 'kick'. lol
And glad you're coming up out of the dumps lol - we all do it sometimes. I feel the same exact way, "I'm working THIS hard and they're STILL failing?!" I don't know how it's possible, but it is.

  10. I'm glad you got your blogging groove back! I am just starting out with blogging and your blog is one of the reasons. On another note - I had a similar conversation with a sixth grader yesterday surrounding an elbow and a face. Apparently the face hit the elbow...not the other way around! Gotta love them!

  17. I was reading both of your last posts and I know exactly how you feel. I wonder if anyone will actually read what I write and I think I am not good enough to even be blogging. But for me, it is an outlet, a place to say what I need to say. Sometimes a few people read it, sometimes not. I know I am not as cute as many other blogs, but I do what I can. And that's all anyone can ask. So keep doing what you're doing, and don't worry about anyone else. Because you really do have lots of people cheering for you.
