Currently it's April... AND it's Spring Break! Yippee!

Ahhhhhh. I just love the feeling of unscheduled, unstructured time. It's seems like forever since I have slowed down to such a leisurely pace. I have actually heard things around me: crickets, birds, the clock ticking, music... All sounds that get ignored on a daily basis.

I'm not going anywhere or doing anything special this week. I am just enjoying the days--which seem, oddly, and incredibly, to last for hours and hours! Pure Bliss.

(I am quite amazed to posting this on April first. No fooling! Contrast this to March... when I posted my Currently on the last day of the month... after the linky was closed!)

Reading my "wrap up," it sounds like all I do is watch TV and eat ice cream! That's only partly true, really. I have done (a little) school work and a little (very little) organizing. Easter is around the corner, so there are church events to attend. And I have enjoyed a few walks--even in our drought-hampered state, the flowers are still so pretty this season.  I just feel so blessed. And happy.

I have spent three days re-vamping my PowerPoint presentations for Social Studies. (There's proof: My TpT purchase list is growing daily!) Teaching a fifth/sixth combination is easy in some ways--until you consider social studies. Ancient civilizations and early American history have... well... very little in common. After the Land Bridge, we simply have to go our separate ways! In truth, it's been fun. Having time to research and find clip art and choose just-the-right-shade-of-blue is actually enjoyable to me... when I have time. Ahhhh. There it is again. Time.

Time: I love you so!

My name is Kim. (Yawn). On my blog, I have been Finding JOY in Sixth Grade for ages. And I'm quite used to being called Joy. I even answer when people call me that now! Alas, there is likely a grade change ahead for me. But I'll save that story for another day. TODAY is a perfect time to be JOYful and JOY-filled!

Let's keep the joy going. Farley is always one of my favorite joy-bringers. So, head on over and link up--and then leave some joy for those who linked up around you. It's like sharing a carton of ice cream. But you might have to share with someone else. At the moment, both Ben and Jerry are looking a little on the empty side!

See you there!

  3. This is the first spring break in a long time that I haven't planned something for each and every day. I, too, am enjoying the unscheduled part of this week.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your spring break!

  5. Hi :)

I found your blog from Farley's linky and definitely agree with your statement about spring break. I'd be totally okay if spring break went on forever. We also might be best friends in a different life because I have spent most of my break catching up on TV shows I don't normally get to watch during the school week - including Law and Order: SVU!

Enjoy the rest of your break!

  8. Well that was FUN to hear your voice back on the airwaves, so to speak. Happy springtime and a blessed Easter weekend to you!!

I love that you're so heavily into relaxation mode and enJOYing the finer things in life, like walks, naps, comfort food, naps and walks!!!

Time marches on ... and it'll be June before we know it. Thank you for the reminder to stop and smell the flowers. Love from Texas!

  9. I'm so jealous that you are enjoying spring break! Plus, hearing crickets and birds! I'm so in need of those spring sounds!

Sometimes I feel like all I do is watch TV and eat ice cream! It sounds like a lovely way to enjoy time passing!

I taught 5th grade once, but I do like my little second graders. I'm not sure I could deal with 6th graders! They are a league of their own! Thank goodness we have people like you who enjoy it!

  11. I just moved to Australia and caught a recent episode of Law & Order SVU and DANG IT! I've missed SO much! Who are all these people?! Thank goodness Olivia is still there! I just wish it was on all the time here in Australia like it is in FL. (with TNT & USA replaying at all times throughout the day!

BTW, just found your blog and I love it! You've got a cute layout, but I'm in the mood to possibly design a new layout for a fellow blogger for free. Would that be something you'd be interested in? I did my blog from scratch: Fishing for Education Blog Let me know! (FishingforEducation@gmail.com)

  12. Spring break + unstructured time = Happy Raye.

This is, by far, my favorite break during the school year. Often my husband has to work so it's just me and the girls...and I love it. Don't get me wrong, I love him too but it's nice to be able to sit around and be lazy without him getting on my case for being lazy....because I never, ever get to be lazy when I have students to teach (and grad school and mom duties and and and). I've loved to just sit and do nothing. It's pretty amazing. Now if I just had some ice cream..... *wink*
